Quote of the week

Rosa Parks
"I had no idea that history was being made.  I was just tired of giving up."  ~Rosa Parks

Agreed.  In life, we should never give up.  When I was laid off this past October, it was an opportunity to reinvent myself; do what I really want to do.  Make your own history by never giving up in whatever you do.

New Hair, New Products

Haul from Sally Beauty

I did my Big Chop this past Friday after transitioning for 9 months; Big Chop meaning that I cut (yes, I actually did cut it myself) all my relaxed hair off and now I'm officially chemical free.  I'll be posting pictures of my new look soon but first I had to get some products for my new hair.  Starting from the top, I bought a gallon (literally) sized conditioner by Salon Care in Wild Cherry since I won't be using shampoo to wash my hair which is referred to as a "co wash".  I'm trying out some of the methods in the "Curly Girl Handbook" to see how it works for me.  On the bottom row I bought two bottles to transfer product into, butterfly clips also by Salon Care since my hair is so short now, I can't really use my other clips, a Denman D3 brush so I can brush through my hair better (a no no according to the Curly Girl Handbook which is why I said I'm following some methods, not all) and finally Silk Elements Mixed Silk Deep Conditioner specifically for naturally curly hair.  So I will be giving all of these products a try and reporting how I feel they work for my hair.  This is definitely a trial and error journey for me as I have never had my hair all natural for as long as I can remember anyway.

Julep Nail Polish

My order from Julep.com
I received my first order from Julep.com; a site that sells mostly nail polishes and nail accessories.  Of course I was attracted by the bright vibrant colors and when I received an email for a buy one get one free deal, I was set!  I chose Taylor (all their polish colors have girl names) which is a bluish/purple color but appears more purple in this picture and Leah, which is a pretty bright grass green.  I'm wearing Taylor right now and my first impressions were that it was sticky as if it has been used or sitting around for a while.  It didn't have that brand new polish consistency.  But the color is very pretty on and so far, so good with not chipping that much as I am hard on my hands.  I love the unique bottle the polishes come in and they also have a "Julep Maven" program where you can receive customized colors based on a quiz you take and $40.00 worth of nail polishes for $19.99 a month isn't a bad deal.

Moods...

Martini & Rossi Asti on my MacBook Pro

This is my favorite wine; Asti.  It's a sparkling fruity wine with enough kick that after a couple of glasses I'm pretty buzzed.  I don't drink often but I guess I'm just in the mood for it.  I haven't been feeling the greatest and I know you shouldn't drown your sorrows in spirits-this isn't strong liquor but to some it may be, but then again, they are called spirits...I don't know.  I guess after a few sips I am starting to get a little discombobulated.  I'll leave it at that.  Good night...☽

Grocery shopping and OOTD

On the phone in the store
Looking like who done it and what for, I headed to the grocery store for my weekly food haul.  I didn't get any sodas this week (still have plenty from last week).  I did decide that I wanted to make burritos (even though I had Taco Bell yesterday) *sigh*.  At least I did get stuff to make my salads cause Lord knows I need them...bad.  My outfit: Juicy Couture velour hoodie (I forgot what this color is called; it's from 2003); Lite-Brite (remember this toy?) black logo short sleeve tee shirt from 80stees.com-I ❤ this website, they have such cute retro style tees, True Religion Stella Skinny (which sounds like an oxymoron on me) jeans, Ugg classic black tall boots.  My eyeglasses are Juicy Couture and sunglasses on top of my head are Dior.  I'm wearing my awareness bracelets and I have another multicolored crystal beaded bracelet on my other wrist which I bought at a Kiosk inside The Forum Shops at Caesar's Palace. Earrings are crystal pink studs from Forever 21. I'm wearing Orly Purple Crush on my nails.  My bag is a Louis Vuitton Multicolore Ursula which they discontinued I believe last year but if you call the Louis Vuitton hotline, they may be able to locate one for you. My phone is an iPhone 4S which I love.  I'm not wearing any makeup except for some foundation and powder, the absolute bare minimum.  I wasn't even going to wear that.  I need to get out of this lazy funk I've been in.  I had to struggle to get dressed.  It's not cute.

Switched out my bag for the week

Rainy days and Mondays ☔☁☂

Monday afternoon rain through my windshield

I normally would not post on the rain but since living in Las Vegas, the rain is a rarity.  I think it's very cool to see the mountains disappear under the thick cloud cover.  This is the type of day that I like to kick back, pick up a good book, nod off and repeat the process. ☺

My lunch; Taco Bell

No food in the house (grocery shopping tomorrow) forced me to go out and get a quick lunch.  I need to stop making excuses for eating so much fast food; for real!

Congratulations Adele!

My Adele review on iTunes, Grammys, Humble and my iTunes Cover Flow

This was one of the albums I bought around this time last year and have loved it every since.  I normally don't write reviews on music but I just felt compelled to write one after the way her music moved me.  I'm looking forward to her next project.
